Audi Launched Car Assembly in Indonesia

FRANKFURT, KOMPAS.com - German luxury car maker Audi AG said Monday it started to assemble cars in Indonesia together with INDOMOBIL/Garuda Mataram Motor as part of a broader expansion plan in Southeast Asia.
“We'd like to contribute to (market) growth (in Indonesia), since growth is an important component of Audi's brand strategy,“ Audi executive board member Frank Dreves said in a statement.
Audi is the premium brand of Volkswagen AG, Europe's largest automaker by sales volume. Audi and INDOMOBIL/Garuda Mataram Motor will assemble Audi A4 1.8 TFSI and A6 2.0 TFSI cars in the capital city Jakarta. Around 2,700 cars will be assembled there by 2015, including 2,000 Audi A4 models, for the Indonesian market.

Ingolstadt, KOMPAS.com - Audi AG from its headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany, on Monday (1/31/2011) this afternoon, announced that it will assemble the Audi A4 and A6 in Indonesia, precisely Jakarta, in 2015 with a production of 2700 units per year. The goal is to strengthen the position of Audi in Southeast Asia.

To assemble the two models, the Audi works with Indomobil and PT Garuda Mataram Motor. Audi A4 assembled in Indonesia using mesin1, 8-liter TFSI and A6 with a 2.0 liter TFSI engine. The composition of the assembled model is 2,000 units A4 and A6 rest. Both models are marketed to consumers in Indonesia.

Audi wanted to accelerate the pace of ASEAN. "After doing the same thing in China and India, now we find Audi assembles partners in Indonesia," said Frank Dreves, member of the Board of Management of Audi AG Production.

He explains, Audi's decision was based on Indonesia's economic growth the highest in ASEAN. "We want to contribute to this growth,"said Dreves. For that, Audi will add sales and service network in Indonesia.
